Job Overview:
The Public intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Intern position is a six-month, unpaid internship based in New York, USA, within the Office of the Police Adviser in the United Nations Police Division, part of the Department of Peace Operations (DPO). The intern will engage in various activities aimed at supporting the implementation of policing and rule of law mandates in UN peace operations. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about international relations and public information, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a prestigious international organization. The intern will report directly to the Special Assistant to the Police Adviser and will be involved in monitoring media coverage, assisting with media outreach, and contributing to the development of communication materials for both internal and external audiences. The position requires a commitment of 35 hours per week, and the intern will be expected to work collaboratively with various teams within the UN Police Division.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting in monitoring media coverage related to United Nations Police and international relations; supporting media outreach and event organization; contributing to policy, communication, and outreach activities; researching and drafting information for public materials; maintaining and developing social media tools; liaising with police public information focal points; preparing policy and outreach materials such as talking points and presentations; performing administrative tasks related to event organization and website management; and supporting day-to-day activities in the Office of the Police Adviser. The intern may also be assigned additional duties as needed, which could constitute a significant portion of their workload.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must provide proof of their academic status and may need to submit an official certificate later in the application process.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in a field relevant to the internship, such as international relations, communications, public policy, or a related discipline. The internship is open to students in their final year of a bachelor's degree, as well as those pursuing master's or doctoral degrees. A strong academic background is essential, and applicants should be able to demonstrate their qualifications through their educational history.

Experience:
