Job Overview:
As a Family Support Specialist, you will be integral to the Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault programs, working within a case management framework to support individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence. This full-time permanent position involves outreach work, where you will provide essential support to vulnerable clients, helping them navigate their challenges and create lasting change for children. The role requires flexibility, as services are offered until 10 PM, seven days a week. Your work will focus on holistic case management, ensuring that the voices of children and young people are prioritized, and that clients are supported in achieving their goals and improving their health and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities will include providing comprehensive case management to clients, ensuring that their needs are met through tailored support. You will be responsible for identifying client strengths, establishing program goals, and regularly reviewing progress. Additionally, you will promote skills that enhance health, safety, and development among clients. You will also be expected to maintain accurate records, write reports, and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of the support provided. Collaboration with other team members and stakeholders will be essential to ensure a coordinated approach to client care.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate experience in case management and possess a strong understanding of relevant legislation related to domestic and family violence. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is crucial, as is the ability to write reports and analyze data effectively. A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is preferred, along with significant experience in the domestic and family violence sector.

Educational Background:
A tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with significant experience in the domestic and family violence sector may also be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Experience:
The role requires demonstrated experience in case management, particularly within the context of domestic and family violence. Familiarity with the challenges faced by Indigenous families and communities is essential, as is a strong understanding of trauma and its impacts on children and families.

Languages:
While no specific languages are mandated, proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with clients and stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly those relevant to the local community.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and permanent, with a competitive salary based on the award rate (currently Level 4.1 – $44.58 per hour) plus superannuation and full salary packaging benefits.
