Job Overview:
The consultant will work under the supervision of the Programme Officer to develop and produce strategic communication, design, and visual branding assets for the One Million Opportunities (1MiO) initiative. This initiative aims to provide skills development, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities for vulnerable youth in Brazil. The consultant's role will involve creating graphic and visual materials for campaigns, events, and key initiatives, ensuring consistency with UNICEF's branding and messaging. The consultant will also engage with private sector partners through compelling content and tailored communication strategies, enhancing audience engagement and strengthening the initiative's visibility. The consultant will adopt a collaborative approach, incorporating feedback from technical teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with UNICEF and donor guidelines, applying user-centered design principles to enhance accessibility and strategic communication impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties will include the development of core visual assets and initial communication materials, layout and design of various toolkits and guides, creation of social media design pieces, and design of communication materials for mental health initiatives. The consultant will also be responsible for coordinating with the 1MiO communications team through scheduled meetings, ensuring consistency and quality in the delivery of outputs. Additional responsibilities include supporting the organization and management of visual assets, developing donor reporting materials, and creating thematic communication materials across various initiatives. The consultant will need to apply a structured and systematic approach to asset management and ensure that all materials are aligned with UNICEF's guidelines and strategic objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in Design, Arts, or related fields, along with a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience at national or international levels in Design. Experience within the UN system or similar organizations is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate fluency in Portuguese and basic English, with knowledge of Spanish being an additional advantage. A strong understanding of children's rights issues, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child, is essential. The consultant should also have teamwork skills, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and proficiency in digital media tools and social media.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in Design, Arts, or a related field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding design principles, visual communication, and the technical skills necessary for creating effective communication materials.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in design, preferably at both national and international levels. Candidates should have a proven track record of working on design projects, particularly in contexts related to social issues, youth engagement, or humanitarian efforts. Experience in the UN system or similar organizations is highly valued, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational and strategic frameworks within which UNICEF operates.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, along with basic proficiency in English. Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders and partners. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages is essential for the consultant to fulfill their responsibilities and engage with diverse audiences.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy contract is expected to last for 365 days, with the possibility of travel to São Paulo and Brasília for in-person meetings and key activities. The consultant is responsible for arranging their own travel, including travel insurance, and all travel fees must be included in the financial proposal. The financial proposal should encompass all-inclusive fees, including administrative costs and subsistence costs. It is important to note that individuals engaged under this consultancy will not be considered staff members and will not be entitled to benefits provided to staff, such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage. The selected candidate must ensure that they have valid visa and health insurance for the duration of the contract and confirm their fully-vaccinated status against COVID-19 prior to commencing the assignment.
