Job Overview: The ICT Assistant position is situated within the ICT & Data Analytics Team of the UNFPA Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU). The role is pivotal in providing foundational support for the day-to-day operations of ICT services, ensuring that all technology-related activities run smoothly. The ICT Assistant will work closely with various stakeholders, including other SCMU colleagues, the Information Technology Solutions Office, and external partners. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to supporting the organization's mission of improving reproductive health services globally. The ICT Assistant will be responsible for a range of tasks, from technical support to capacity strengthening initiatives, and will play a key role in fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The ICT Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Installing application systems software and hardware, configuring, and testing telecommunication equipment.
Monitoring and maintaining daily operations of telecommunication systems and equipment.
Conducting troubleshooting and analysis of equipment malfunctions.
Gathering performance data and reporting on service levels.
Acting as the focal point for user requests and providing technical support.
Supporting the maintenance of customized application software systems and assisting with needs assessments for new systems.
Managing the SCMU ICT service catalogue and resolving support calls.
Collaborating with other technical support teams and assisting with internal business applications.
Advocating for training and capacity strengthening of supply chain professionals. 1
Engaging with industry experts and contributing to knowledge sharing initiatives. 1
Establishing effective collaboration with stakeholders and representing SCMU in relevant meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in ICT technical support within an international customer-focused organization. This includes at least two years of hands-on experience in PC software and hardware support, network technical support, and Microsoft Infrastructure. A university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or Engineering is preferred, along with certifications such as ITIL Foundation or CompTIA security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security+. Strong interpersonal skills, professional presentation skills, and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are also required. Experience in a matrix organizational structure and with voice and video communication systems is advantageous.
Educational Background: Completion of secondary education is required, with a university degree at the Bachelor level in a relevant field being an asset. Professional certifications in ITIL, Voice and Collaboration technologies, or Information Security are also beneficial.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in ICT technical support, with a reduction to two years for candidates holding a relevant first-level or advanced university degree. Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in technical support and the ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic environment.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while working knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset.
