Job Overview: The Knowledge Management Expert will be responsible for leading knowledge management activities across the Unit’s funds and facilities, particularly focusing on the Restoration Seed Capital Facility. This role requires deep engagement with the Unit's work on financial innovation and collaboration with partners and the broader market of impact investment for nature. The expert will analyze and synthesize key topics emerging from the Unit's work and its partners to produce high-quality knowledge products that align with the Unit's objectives. The position involves leading the production of various knowledge products, including articles, blogs, social media posts, webinars, and in-person events. Additionally, the expert will develop and implement annual knowledge management plans for the Unit's funds and facilities, ensuring alignment with other knowledge management and communication priorities. The role also includes managing communications and media engagement duties related to the Unit’s funds and facilities, actively monitoring and reporting on the success of knowledge management efforts in reaching target audiences and enhancing the Unit's relevance as a source of insight and knowledge.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will lead knowledge management activities, focusing on the Restoration Seed Capital Facility. Responsibilities include:
Engaging deeply with the Unit's work on financial innovation and impact investment for nature.
Analyzing and synthesizing key topics from the Unit's work and its partners to produce relevant knowledge products.
Leading the production of knowledge products such as articles, blogs, social media posts, webinars, and in-person events.
Developing and implementing annual knowledge management plans for the Unit's funds and facilities.
Ensuring alignment with other knowledge management and communication priorities of the Unit and the organization.
Managing communications and media engagement related to the Unit’s funds and facilities.
Actively monitoring and reporting on the success of knowledge management efforts in reaching key target audiences.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in economics and/or finance, environmental studies, business, or development studies. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. At least five years of working experience in knowledge management and/or communications, ideally related to agriculture, forestry, land use finance, sustainable finance, or related topics, is required. Familiarity with impact investing and nature-based solutions is desirable. Proven capacity for analysis and synthesis of complex topics for diverse outputs and audiences is essential. Excellent writing and presentation skills in English are required, along with proactivity and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in relevant fields such as economics, finance, environmental studies, business, or development studies is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional qualifying experience.
Experience: Candidates should have at least five years of relevant working experience in knowledge management and/or communications, particularly in areas related to agriculture, forestry, land use finance, sustainable finance, or similar fields. Experience in analyzing and synthesizing complex topics for various audiences is crucial.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is required for this position. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as English and French are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
