Job Overview: The Communications and Reporting Coordinator plays a crucial role within NRC Yemen’s Programme Support structure, primarily reporting to the Grants Manager. The Coordinator will also focus on building the capacity of teams in communications and reporting, ensuring that all outputs align with NRC’s Global Communications Strategy and priorities. Regular travel to program locations is expected to gather content and support program staff with communications-related activities, thereby fostering a collaborative environment across various teams.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Communications and Reporting Coordinator include supporting the development and implementation of NRC Yemen’s Communications Plan, collaborating with colleagues to create a comprehensive communications action plan, and undertaking regular travel to gather content related to NRC programs. The Coordinator will assist program teams in developing visibility materials, ensuring compliance with NRC and donor guidelines, and crafting creative products that portray the humanitarian situation in Yemen. Additionally, the role involves liaising with media and communications colleagues, overseeing NRC Yemen’s social media outputs, and managing feedback and complaints. The Coordinator will also coordinate the narrative aspects of multi-governorate programs, prepare and review reports for donors, and undertake any other communications or reporting-related tasks as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least five years of experience in media and communications within an INGO or equivalent context. A relevant university degree is required, along with demonstrated skills in using Photoshop and other relevant software. Thorough knowledge and experience in photography, videography, and video editing are essential, as well as the ability to draft materials for traditional media. Candidates should have a high level of English proficiency and strong analytical and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications. At least two years of experience in donor reporting, particularly with donors such as ECHO and FCDO, is highly advantageous.
Educational Background: A relevant university degree in communications, media studies, or a related field is required for this position. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in communication strategies, media production, and reporting standards, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to fulfill the role effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in media and communications, particularly within the context of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs). Candidates should have a proven track record of managing communications and reporting functions, with specific experience in donor reporting being highly desirable. Familiarity with the humanitarian sector and the dynamics of NGO operations will be beneficial.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, with strong skills in speaking, reading, and writing. Additionally, strong Arabic writing skills are essential for effective communication within the local context. Knowledge of other languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and may involve regular travel to field sites within Yemen.
