Job Posting Organization:
Purewish Foundation Uganda, formerly known as New Generation for Change, is a community-based organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for disadvantaged children, youths, and communities in Northern Uganda. The organization focuses on providing education, health, sanitation, nutrition, spiritual life, and vocational training skills to those in need. Established to address the long-term effects of conflict, poverty, and displacement, Purewish Foundation Uganda aims to create a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable children, including orphans and refugees, by offering inclusive and affordable education. The organization actively engages in advocacy for the rights and well-being of disadvantaged children and youths, particularly those living with HIV/AIDS, and promotes psycho-social support and income-generating activities for caretakers. Through research and community engagement, Purewish Foundation Uganda strives to combat child abuse and protect children's rights while fostering leadership training for youths.

Job Overview:
The primary focus of this volunteer position is to support resource mobilization efforts that will enhance the capacity of Purewish Junior School to provide quality education to vulnerable children in Northern Uganda. Volunteers will play a crucial role in identifying potential partnerships, developing resource mobilization materials, and promoting sustainable support initiatives. This includes efforts to install a water system, acquire classroom desks, and enhance teacher support. The overall goal is to improve the learning environment and the well-being of children who have been affected by conflict, poverty, and limited access to essential services. Volunteers will be expected to contribute to structured resource mobilization strategies and awareness-building initiatives that align with the organization's mission to restore hope and provide essential support to disadvantaged communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify and establish partnerships with local and international organizations to support resource mobilization efforts.
  • Develop resource mobilization materials, including proposals, presentations, and informational brochures.
  • Promote sustainable support initiatives for the installation of a water system and acquisition of classroom desks.
  • Enhance teacher support through resource mobilization strategies.
  • Conduct outreach and awareness-building initiatives to engage the community and potential donors.
  • Collaborate with the Purewish Foundation team to assess the needs of the school and the children it serves.
  • Participate in training and capacity-building activities to strengthen resource mobilization skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of resource mobilization efforts and report on progress.
  • Advocate for the rights and well-being of vulnerable children and youths in the community.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in resource mobilization, fundraising, or community engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Passion for supporting vulnerable children and communities.
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by disadvantaged children and youths in Northern Uganda.
  • Proficiency in developing written materials for fundraising and advocacy purposes.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, international development, education, or a related field is preferred. Relevant coursework or training in resource mobilization, fundraising, or community development is highly desirable.

Experience:
Previous volunteer or work experience in resource mobilization, fundraising, or community development is advantageous. Experience working with children or in educational settings is a plus. Familiarity with the socio-economic challenges faced by communities in Northern Uganda will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Northern Uganda is an asset and will enhance communication with the community and beneficiaries.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment is flexible based on the availability of the volunteer. The role is focused on full-time commitment to support the organization's resource mobilization efforts. Volunteers may be required to work in challenging conditions, and a strong commitment to the mission of Purewish Foundation Uganda is essential. Compensation is not provided, but volunteers will gain valuable experience and contribute to meaningful change in the lives of vulnerable children.
