The assignment aims to build national capacity in health data management, digital health tools, and the effective use of data for planning and decision-making. The volunteer will contribute to various initiatives aimed at improving the national health information architecture and ensuring that health data is effectively utilized for better health outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Health Information Systems and Digital Health UN Volunteer include supporting WHO technical teams in strengthening national health information systems and digital health platforms, contributing to the improvement of the national HIS architecture, and assisting in the optimization of national health data platforms like DHIS
The volunteer will also document system workflows, data structures, and provide technical guidance related to health information systems. Additionally, the role involves supporting initiatives for data integration and interoperability, developing standardized data structures, and maintaining data integration processes. The volunteer will manage health data collection, ensure quality assurance, harmonize datasets across health programs, and support the design and maintenance of interactive health dashboards using tools like Power BI or Tableau. Furthermore, the volunteer will assist in responding to information requests from the Ministry of Health, contribute to technical briefs and knowledge products, and support collaboration with MOH counterparts and partners involved in HIS strengthening.
Required Qualifications: Candidates are expected to possess a strong understanding of health information systems, digital health tools, and data management practices. They should demonstrate analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills. Experience working with health data management, data analysis, and visualization tools is essential. Candidates should also have a proven track record of collaborating with health sector stakeholders and contributing to health program monitoring and evaluation.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset. Candidates who can communicate effectively in both languages will have an advantage in this role, as it involves collaboration with local partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a remote national UN Volunteer position, and the volunteer is responsible for securing their own housing and covering related living expenses. The initial contract duration is six months, with potential extensions based on funding availability and performance. A monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) will be provided to assist with housing and living expenses. Additionally, the volunteer will receive life, health, and permanent disability insurance coverage, including health insurance for up to three eligible dependents, as well as an exit allowance upon satisfactory completion of service.
