Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is part of the Nature for Life Hub, a virtual platform dedicated to integrating nature into sustainable development practices. The primary function of this role is to assist in enhancing accessibility and reach of educational content by adding Portuguese subtitles to a series of English-language videos. This task involves working with a total of 68 videos, each approximately 2 minutes long, which are part of the Learning Journeys designed to educate professionals on nature-positive practices. The role requires attention to detail and a commitment to improving the learning experience for Portuguese-speaking audiences, thereby contributing to the broader mission of promoting sustainable development through nature-based solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review English-language videos provided by the Nature for Life Hub.
• Accurately translate and add Portuguese subtitles to each video, ensuring clarity and coherence.
• Collaborate with the UNDP team to ensure that the subtitles align with the content and context of the videos.
• Maintain a consistent format and style for subtitles across all videos.
• Submit completed subtitles for review and make necessary revisions based on feedback.
• Ensure timely completion of the subtitle tasks within the agreed deadlines.
• Engage in any additional tasks related to video content as assigned by the UNDP team.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in both English and Portuguese, with strong translation skills.
• Familiarity with video editing or subtitle software is preferred but not mandatory.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a remote team.
• A commitment to the values and mission of UNDP and sustainable development.

Educational Background:
A background in languages, communications, or a related field is preferred but not strictly required. Candidates should demonstrate strong language skills and an understanding of sustainable development concepts.

Experience:
Previous experience in translation, subtitling, or video editing is advantageous but not essential. Candidates should be comfortable working with digital content and have a basic understanding of video platforms such as YouTube.

Languages:
Mandatory: Proficiency in English and Portuguese. Good to have: Knowledge of additional languages would be beneficial but is not required for this position.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position, allowing for flexible working hours. The role is part-time and does not have a fixed contract duration, but timely completion of tasks is expected. Volunteers will gain valuable experience working with a global organization and contribute to important educational initiatives.
