Job Overview: The Partnerships Officer UNV position at UNICEF Nigeria is designed to support the organization's engagement with the private sector, foundations, civil society, and other stakeholders. Under the supervision of the Partnerships Specialist, the officer will contribute to partnership development, coordination, research, proposal preparation, reporting, and administrative management. This role is crucial for strengthening UNICEF's resource mobilization efforts and implementing the Country Office's private sector engagement strategy. The officer will be involved in various tasks, including partnership research, proposal creation, partner relationship support, reporting, grant administration, and cross-team collaboration, all aimed at enhancing UNICEF's impact on children's health and well-being in Nigeria.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Partnership Research, Mapping & Outreach Support: Conduct research and evaluate corporations, foundations, and private sector organizations' corporate social responsibility patterns. Develop partner summaries and analytical briefs to guide engagement approaches. Facilitate early-stage contact activities, track potential partner pipelines, and support the establishment of UNICEF Nigeria’s individual giving initiative.
Proposal Creation & Document Preparation: Assist in developing concept papers, funding proposals, donor briefings, and partnership communications. Ensure all materials meet UNICEF's brand guidelines and quality expectations.
Partner Relationship Support: Facilitate partner engagement through communication and coordination activities. Organize meetings, site visits, and events involving partners. Monitor and ensure fulfillment of partner agreements and reporting deadlines.
Reporting & Grant Administration Support: Prepare donor and partner reports by gathering program details and impact stories. Track agreement obligations and monitor partnership outcomes.
Information Systems, CRM & Documentation: Update partner information in UNICEF's Partnerships Management Portal and maintain organized digital filing systems.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Technical Assistance: Coordinate with program teams to collect input for proposals and reports, and support internal meetings and strategy discussions on private sector engagement.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a diverse range of partners. They should be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, and adapt effectively in a challenging environment. Proficiency in MS Office applications and familiarity with database management is essential. A strong affinity for volunteerism and understanding of the UN System is also important.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, social sciences, business administration, or a related discipline is required. Additional training or certifications in partnership development, project management, or related areas would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in partnership development, project management, or a related field. Experience working with NGOs, UN agencies, or in the private sector is highly desirable. Familiarity with fundraising, proposal writing, and donor relations will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Nigeria would be an asset, as it would enhance communication with local partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, meaning the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position may involve working in a multicultural team and requires the ability to adapt to various working conditions. The role is full-time and may involve tight deadlines and a dynamic work environment.
