Job Overview:
The position involves providing translation services for a critical report on promoting climate-smart agro-technologies in Kazakhstan. The selected candidate will be responsible for translating the report from English into both Russian and Kazakh languages. This task is essential for ensuring that the report is accessible to national partners and stakeholders who may not be proficient in English. The report consists of 48 pages, and the translator will need to ensure that the translation maintains the original meaning and context while being culturally relevant and appropriate for the target audience. The role requires not only linguistic skills but also an understanding of the subject matter to accurately convey the technical content of the report.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Translate the report from English to Russian and Kazakh, ensuring accuracy and clarity in the translation.
• Collaborate with UNDP staff to understand the context and nuances of the report content.
• Review and edit translations to ensure they meet quality standards and are free of errors.
• Provide feedback and suggestions for improving the original text if necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality of the report content and adhere to ethical standards in translation.
• Meet deadlines for the completion of translation tasks and communicate progress regularly to the project manager.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in translation services, particularly in translating technical documents.
• Strong command of English, Russian, and Kazakh languages.
• Familiarity with climate-smart agro-technologies and related terminology is preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.

Educational Background:
A degree in translation, linguistics, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in translation or relevant subject matter expertise will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of professional translation experience, particularly in the fields of environmental science, agriculture, or sustainable development. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is a plus.

Languages:
Mandatory languages include English, Russian, and Kazakh. Proficiency in all three languages is essential for this position. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not required.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration and specific terms of employment will be discussed with the selected candidate. This position may be part-time or project-based, depending on the needs of the UNDP and the timeline for the report translation. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
