Job Overview:
The consultant will support the Education Section of UNICEF Pacific, focusing on communication and visibility, knowledge management, and evidence translation. The role involves preparing presentations, drafting content for various communication channels, and ensuring the consistent application of UNICEF branding. The consultant will also collect and synthesize information across key program areas, draft public-facing documents, and maintain knowledge management systems. This position requires a sensitivity to Pacific cultures and values, ensuring that communication products are context-appropriate and reflective of local perspectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Communication and Visibility: Prepare and format PowerPoint presentations for meetings and conferences; draft content for social media, newsletters, and event materials; develop visual assets using tools like Canva; ensure adherence to UNICEF branding guidelines; support donor visibility across education outputs.
  • Knowledge Management and Evidence Translation: Collect and synthesize thematic information into briefs and knowledge products; draft and edit public-facing documents; maintain knowledge management systems for communication products.
  • Messaging Consistency: Align messaging across key outputs; maintain a message bank; support communications planning and flag inconsistencies or risks.
  • Internal Organization: Maintain the Education Section’s repository of knowledge products; assist in preparing documentation for meetings and donor engagements; support day-to-day communication needs of the Education team.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Education, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. Candidates should have at least two years of relevant experience in communication, writing, research, or documentation. Strong writing and editing skills, the ability to prepare presentations, and familiarity with design software are essential. Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are also required.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Communication, Journalism, Education, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or Development Studies is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of communication and education in a development context.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in communication, writing, research, or documentation. This experience can include internships, volunteer work, or university projects that demonstrate the ability to draft materials such as briefs, summaries, and social media content. Familiarity with education issues, particularly in the Pacific context, is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-level written documents. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Pacific region may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.

The position is a consultancy role, and individuals engaged under this contract will not be considered staff members under UNICEF’s regulations. The consultant will be expected to submit a financial proposal detailing monthly or daily fees, travel costs, living allowances, and miscellaneous expenses.
