Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer position is integral to UNICEF Pakistan's education programme, which aims to support the government in providing equitable and quality education for all children. The role involves coordination, programme support, documentation, knowledge management, and communication. The volunteer will track action points from meetings, assist in monitoring the implementation of education programmes, draft reports, and maintain databases of education data. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government counterparts and partner organizations, to ensure effective communication and progress updates. The volunteer will also support the Education Specialist in research and policy development, contributing to the overall goal of enhancing education systems in Pakistan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordination and Follow-ups: Track and follow up on action points from meetings with various educational stakeholders, liaise with government counterparts for scheduling and updates, and support communication between different UNICEF sections.
  • Programme Support: Assist in monitoring the implementation of education programmes, compile updates on action points, support research for policy briefs, and gather information on Early Childhood Development and foundational literacy programmes.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Draft meeting notes, maintain a tracker of commitments and deadlines, and prepare situation updates and donor progress reports.
  • Knowledge and Data Management: Compile education data into infographics, maintain databases of sector studies, and prepare presentations for meetings.
  • Administrative and Logistical Support: Organize workshops and meetings, maintain calendars for major events, and ensure systematic documentation.
  • Communication and Visibility: Draft internal communication notes, support the development of advocacy materials, and track relevant media and publications.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in data management and reporting is essential, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Familiarity with education systems and policies in Pakistan is advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate adaptability, professionalism, and a commitment to the values of UNICEF.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in education or child development would be beneficial. Knowledge of educational policies and practices in Pakistan is a plus.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in education, project management, or a related field. Experience working with government agencies or international organizations is preferred. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes in education programmes is also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Urdu or other local languages is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UNV assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of PKR 105,097 is provided monthly to cover living expenses. The assignment includes life health and permanent disability insurance, health insurance for up to three dependents, and a resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
