Job Overview:
The Education Project Manager position is crucial for driving the implementation of education programming in the Nuba Mountains region of Sudan. This role is designed to ensure that educational initiatives are executed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the established proposals while maintaining high-quality standards. The manager will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the education programs, including primary, non-formal, and youth education initiatives. The position requires a proactive approach to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and planning, partnership management, and effective communication with stakeholders. The Education Project Manager will also collaborate closely with NRC’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Team to assess the impact of educational interventions and ensure continuous improvement in program delivery. This role demands strong leadership skills, as the manager will be responsible for line management of project staff and fostering a positive work environment that aligns with NRC's values and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Project Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Line management of project staff, ensuring adherence to NRC policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to the development of country, area, and education strategies, and initiating relevant education projects.
  • Maintaining oversight of program design and planning in consultation with partners and stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with partners to facilitate effective communication and collaboration throughout program implementation.
  • Overseeing the implementation of education programming, ensuring compliance with program design, standards, and protocols.
  • Supporting the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Team in conducting baseline, learning, and impact assessments.
  • Attending relevant education-specific meetings and representing NRC within the limits set by the Area Office.
  • Ensuring that NRC is recognized as a great employer by fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment for all staff.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, management, or a relevant field. A minimum of three years of experience managing education programming for an NGO in a humanitarian context is required. Applicants should have experience working in complex and volatile environments, particularly in remote areas. Technical expertise in education is essential, along with documented results related to the responsibilities of the position. Strong communication skills, particularly the ability to synthesize and convey complex ideas simply, are necessary. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent cross-cultural communication skills and possess knowledge of their own leadership skills and profile.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, management, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of education programming and management in humanitarian contexts. The degree should ideally be complemented by relevant training or certifications in project management or education-related fields.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in managing education programs within an NGO, particularly in humanitarian settings. Candidates should have a proven track record of working effectively in complex and volatile contexts, demonstrating the ability to adapt to challenging environments and manage projects successfully. Experience in both formal and non-formal education settings, particularly in contexts involving internally displaced persons (IDPs), is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in Arabic is considered a valuable asset, as it will facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders in the region. Proficiency in other languages may also be beneficial but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The duty station for this position is Kauda, South Kordofan, Sudan, and only applicants from the same location will be considered. The contract is fixed-term for one year, with a salary grade of 9 on NRC’s national salary scale. The role may require approximately 20% travel.
