Job Overview: The Resettlement Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing trauma-informed services to refugees and other qualified immigrants, ensuring they have a positive resettlement experience and can achieve self-sufficiency. This position involves close collaboration with clients, colleagues, and external partners to develop tailored service and self-sufficiency plans that meet individual client needs. The coordinator is responsible for utilizing a wide range of resources, including financial, medical, social, and vocational services, in accordance with client eligibility and program requirements. Reporting to the Resettlement Supervisor, the coordinator must ensure that all services are delivered effectively and in a timely manner, contributing to the overall mission of the IRC.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Resettlement Coordinator's responsibilities include coordinating pre-arrival case preparation, which involves case assurance, communication with U.S. ties, and liaising with the IRC’s Processing Department at Headquarters. The coordinator will assign cases to caseworkers and ensure the timely provision of core services such as airport pickups, home visits, and school enrollment, in line with the PIR guidelines. Additionally, the coordinator will oversee documentation and compliance, ensuring that case files are properly maintained and that reporting requirements are met according to donor and organizational standards. Direct client services involve maintaining a manageable caseload of newly arrived clients, assessing and monitoring their progress, and modifying service plans as necessary. The coordinator will also support the supervisor in fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for both team members and clients, ensuring compliance with agency policies and procedures, and may involve training and leading volunteers and interns.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Resettlement Coordinator position should possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, although relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the human services field is required, with at least 2 years of resettlement experience strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to promoting an organizational culture that reflects the IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Strong relationship-building skills, diplomacy, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment are essential. Candidates should also exhibit excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is preferred for this position. However, candidates with equivalent experience in the human services sector may also be considered. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training relevant to social services, case management, or community support.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in the human services field, with a strong preference for candidates who have at least 2 years of experience specifically in resettlement services. This experience should demonstrate the ability to work with diverse populations and navigate the complexities of refugee and immigrant services.
Languages: Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages spoken by the client group is highly desirable and will enhance the candidate's ability to serve clients effectively.
Additional Notes: This position is eligible for union representation under the OPEIU union and is subject to the terms and conditions of a collective bargaining agreement. The working environment includes a combination of standard office settings, remote work, and fieldwork within the service delivery area. The role may require occasional weekend and evening work. Compensation for this position is competitive, with a pay range starting at $28.94 per hour, and benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, sick days, and a retirement savings plan.
