Job Overview: The Senior Strategy Officer serves as a strategic partner to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of Strategy Planning and Management and the Communications Leadership Team. This role is crucial in building trust in the Gates Foundation and inspiring public engagement with its mission, which focuses on three primary goals: ending preventable maternal and child deaths, eradicating infectious diseases, and alleviating poverty for millions. The Senior Strategy Officer will lead high-impact projects and initiatives, collaborating with Directors and Deputy Directors to define and execute the division's strategy. Responsibilities include shaping and executing strategic efforts, providing analytical support, project management, and developing materials that facilitate operational support. The role requires a collaborative approach to ensure effective coordination across a global division with communications offices in various regions including Europe, Africa, India, and China.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Strategy Officer will be responsible for several key functions:
Strategy Development and Implementation: Collaborate with the Deputy Director and Communications Leadership Team to scope, lead, and execute strategy development for both discrete projects and broader strategic areas. This includes translating strategy into actionable plans, leading ongoing improvements, and conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses to inform strategic decision-making.
Program Management and Planning: Provide operational support to the Communications leadership team, helping to translate strategy into prioritized portfolios and investment plans. This involves consulting with program leadership to maximize impact and promoting efficiency through process and systems development.
Culture and Collaboration: Act as an ambassador for the Communications Division, fostering collaboration and team health by promoting values of innovation, rigor, and inclusion.
Flexibility: Be prepared to take on new projects as needs arise and provide ad-hoc support for the Chief Communications Officer's priorities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent experience, ideally in management consulting, strategy development, or marketing strategy. A minimum of 7 years of experience in strategy development roles is required, with mastery-level knowledge of strategy development processes. Significant experience in leading projects at a premier strategy consulting firm or in marketing campaign strategy development is preferred but not mandatory. Exceptional skills in design and material development, particularly in PowerPoint and other relevant tools, are essential.
