Job Overview: As a Business Intelligence Specialist (Data Science) at ADB, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Office of Business Intelligence and Operations Coordination (BIOC) in fostering data-driven decision-making across the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include developing advanced analytics models that produce actionable insights from operational and institutional data, thereby enhancing evidence-based decision-making. You will also be tasked with integrating new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), into operational workflows to improve the speed, quality, and strategic value of decisions made within ADB. This position requires a proactive approach to expanding BIOC's data science capabilities, which includes introducing modern coding practices, building predictive models, and deploying analytics tools that enhance data visibility and operational insight. Additionally, you will be responsible for promoting a data-driven culture through capacity-building initiatives, peer training, and the development of internal knowledge products.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Business Intelligence Specialist (Data Science) include:
Developing advanced analytics models to generate actionable insights from operational and institutional data, thereby strengthening evidence-based decision-making across ADB.
Supporting predictive analytics for pipeline formulation, risk forecasting, strategic prioritization, and project performance to enhance operational planning and delivery.
Creating interactive dashboards, analytical tools, and data-driven applications that improve data visibility, usability, and accessibility across various departments.
Integrating the latest technologies, including AI, machine learning, and automation techniques, into operational workflows to modernize institutional practices and improve processes.
Collaborating with sector and regional departments to identify data needs, refine analytical approaches, and provide tailored solutions to address operational challenges.
Promoting a data-driven culture by facilitating capacity-building activities, peer learning, and developing internal knowledge products that showcase impactful analytics use cases.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the position, candidates must possess a university degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, preferably at the post-graduate level or with equivalent professional experience in advanced analytics and data science. Additionally, candidates should have at least 6 years of relevant professional experience in developing advanced analytics models, including predictive modeling, statistical analysis, machine learning, or AI-driven solutions, with international experience working in multiple countries. Proficiency in modern coding and data processing languages such as Python, R, SQL, or equivalent analytical tools is essential. Candidates should also have experience in developing dashboards, analytical applications, and data-driven tools using platforms like Power BI, Tableau, or similar technologies. Furthermore, experience in integrating the latest technologies into business or operational workflows, applying data governance, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity is required.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have a university degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline. A post-graduate degree or equivalent professional experience in advanced analytics and data science is preferred, as it demonstrates a higher level of expertise and understanding of complex analytical methodologies.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in the field of data science and advanced analytics. This experience should include developing advanced analytics models, predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and AI-driven solutions. Candidates should also have international experience, having worked in various countries, which will provide them with a broader perspective on data challenges and solutions in different contexts.
Languages: Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. This is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to ADB's member countries.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term appointment for an initial period of 3 years, with the possibility of extension for up to 2 additional years, conversion to a regular appointment, or termination at the end of the initial period based on ADB's needs and the employee's performance. The role is based at ADB's headquarters in Manila, Philippines, and relocation is required, with all reasonable relocation expenses covered.
