Job Overview: The position of Researcher on Transport and Logistics is integral to the successful implementation of a UNRSF-funded project aimed at improving road safety in the Arab region. The researcher will be responsible for conducting thorough research, compiling and analyzing data related to transport and logistics, and presenting findings that will inform evidence-based policymaking. This role requires a proactive approach to understanding the complexities of transport systems in the Arab region and contributing to the establishment of standardized processes for data collection and analysis. The researcher will also assist in project management tasks and participate in training and capacity-building activities for ESCWA member states, ensuring that the project objectives are met effectively and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities: The individual contractor will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting research and compiling data on transport activities in the Arab region; performing specific analyses on selected transport and logistics subjects; preparing background research materials and assisting in project management tasks; participating in the delivery of activities related to transport and logistics; creating statistical tables and graphs; assisting in the preparation of presentations and substantive materials; translating transport-related deliverables; and performing any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. The role demands a high level of analytical skills and the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a field related to transport, road safety, or a related area. Additionally, candidates are required to have at least two years of experience in research, data collection, and analysis. Experience specifically in transport and logistics, as well as road safety issues within the Arab region, is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential for this role, as the researcher will be expected to utilize these tools for data analysis and presentation preparation.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field such as transport, road safety, urban planning, or a related discipline is mandatory for this position.
