Job Overview: The Logistics Support position at WFP involves supporting logistics activities to ensure the efficient delivery of food and non-food items. The role requires regular communication with partners regarding their logistics plans and forecasts for incoming cargo. The incumbent will conduct warehouse assessments to facilitate the establishment of new storage facilities and assess warehousing and transportation conditions to ensure compliance with standards. The position also entails maintaining the Relief Item Tracking Application (RITA) and providing regular feedback to the cluster coordinator. The Logistics Support role is crucial for organizing and planning training for partners, supporting the Information Management officer with relevant information, and producing field visit reports and other necessary documentation. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Logistics Cluster coordinator in Lebanon, contributing to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries and ensuring adherence to corporate standards and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Logistics Support position include:
Providing support to logistics operations and activities, ensuring effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
Supporting timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations.
Assisting in the management of logistics vendors' contracting activities, including performance monitoring and measurement.
Responding to technical queries and requests for support, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of all inquiries.
Contributing to budget preparation, monitoring, and revision for all delivery modalities, ensuring compliance with corporate standards.
Monitoring inventory management processes to track trends and account for inventory status from source to beneficiary.
Assisting in managing commodity accounting data quality and integrity.
Supporting operational pipeline analyses, assessments, and operational planning for all delivery modalities.
Processing documentation for logistics operations, including customs clearance and invoice verification, and resolving operational issues as necessary. 1
Collecting and compiling data to produce reports and ensure information accuracy in corporate systems. 1
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient logistics operations management. 1
Providing guidance to support staff to assist them in completing standard tasks to agreed standards and deadlines. 1
Performing other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Logistics Support position include:
Completion of secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area being preferred.
At least five (5) years of professional experience in humanitarian logistics.
Experience and readiness to support emergency response and operations in hard-to-reach areas.
Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management experience, with a background in warehouse management, transport (uni or multimodal), customer service, or sales force.
Ability to assess the performance of third-party logistics providers.
Experience in analyzing data related to commodities and funds, and drafting reports.
Willingness to work in dangerous or insecure locations.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and Excel.
