Job Overview:
The Finance & Administration Director will play a crucial role in the anticipated FCDO-funded Land Border Programme, which aims to address the complex issues of irregular migration and associated criminal activities in East Africa. This position is vital for the successful implementation of a multifaceted approach that includes prevention, protection, and pursuit of human traffickers and smugglers. The Director will oversee the financial and administrative aspects of the program, ensuring that resources are managed effectively and that the program meets its objectives. The role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate the complexities of the operational environment while ensuring compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies. The Director will work closely with program teams to ensure that financial planning and reporting are aligned with program goals and that all financial transactions are transparent and accountable.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance & Administration Director will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: overseeing the financial management of the program, ensuring compliance with donor regulations, preparing and monitoring budgets, conducting analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, and providing financial reports to stakeholders. The Director will also manage administrative functions, including procurement, logistics, and human resources, ensuring that all operations are efficient and effective. Additionally, the Director will lead the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures, provide training and support to staff on financial management practices, and ensure that all financial systems are functioning properly. The role will also involve regular communication with the Senior Management Team and other stakeholders to provide updates on financial performance and address any issues that arise.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Finance & Administration Director position should possess a strong set of qualifications, including a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management, preferably within a humanitarian or development context, is required. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing complex budgets, financial reporting, and compliance with donor regulations. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred and will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of financial management principles and practices, as well as familiarity with the regulatory environment governing international development and humanitarian assistance.

Experience:
The position requires at least 7 years of relevant experience in financial management, with a focus on humanitarian or development programs. Candidates should have experience in managing financial operations in complex environments, including experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. Experience in training and capacity building of staff in financial management practices is also essential. Candidates with a background in both business and humanitarian settings will be given preference, particularly those who have experience in security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-focused operations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the East African region, such as Swahili, would be considered an asset and beneficial for effective communication with local communities and partners.

This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, with travel required to program sites and border areas. The role is full-time and may involve working in challenging environments.
