Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting with data management and structured analysis using tools such as Python; supporting the development and enhancement of data visualizations and dashboards; organizing and integrating datasets for analytical purposes; testing and refining platform features, including data and user interface components; conducting research on emerging AI trends, tools, and best practices relevant to foresight; contributing to exploratory work on AI-enabled approaches such as trend analysis and text analysis; conducting research on data sources and analytical methods; documenting data processes, workflows, and methodologies; and assisting in the preparation of technical inputs for reports, presentations, and briefs.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within one year of graduation. Additionally, candidates should be computer literate in standard software applications, demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. A field of study related to web development, computer science, information technology, data science, or a similar area is required.
Educational Background: Candidates should be enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program, preferably in a relevant domain. Experience with AI tools or technologies is also beneficial. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience, but a closely related field of study is essential. Knowledge of data science analysis tools, such as Python, is required, along with an understanding of basic concepts in data analytics and statistics.
