Job Overview:
As the National Society Development (NSD) Technical Lead for West & Central Africa, you will be instrumental in advancing the British Red Cross's initiatives on localization and National Society Development across the region. This role is pivotal in providing technical guidance and coordination to enhance the organizational capacity and leadership of National Societies in Nigeria, Chad, Mauritania, and Burkina Faso. You will be responsible for championing equitable, locally led partnership models and embedding sustainable practices in all BRC collaborations. Your work will align with the IFRC NSD Competency Framework, and you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including the Africa & Overseas Branches regional team and the IFRC NSD Senior Officer. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic influence, and hands-on collaboration, making it a unique opportunity to shape the future of humanitarian partnerships in one of the world's most challenging environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your key responsibilities will include providing technical advice and coaching to National Society leadership to identify and prioritize NSD opportunities where BRC can add value. You will support the design, implementation, and monitoring of NSD Plans in close coordination with Movement partners and external technical expertise. Additionally, you will oversee BRC NSD funding contributions, ensuring sound financial management, accountability, and impact-driven reporting. Leading and coordinating BRC's Partner Reassessment and Annual Review processes across West & Central Africa will also be part of your duties, in line with BRC's localised, equitable partnership model. You will champion BRC's localisation agenda, actively influencing power-shifting practices across the RCM network in the region. Furthermore, you will identify and disseminate organizational learning from BRC-supported NSD initiatives to strengthen collective practice and inform global policy.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you must possess substantial experience in organizational development, partnership management, and localization within the humanitarian or international development sectors. You should be adept at navigating complex, politically sensitive environments and have a proven track record of facilitating change and capacity strengthening at both institutional and individual levels. Strong program and grant management skills are essential, along with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholders. You should demonstrate analytical skills and strategic thinking, acting as a knowledge broker across the Movement. A commitment to the IFRC NSD Competency Framework is crucial, including trust and relationship building, systems thinking, and fostering sustainable change. Experience in the private sector is an advantage, as is knowledge of the West & Central African humanitarian landscape and familiarity with OD tools such as OCAC, BOCA, and SAF.

Educational Background:
The position requires a relevant educational background, ideally in fields related to humanitarian action, international development, or organizational management. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the principles and practices of organizational development and partnership management, which are critical for success in this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have extensive experience in organizational development, particularly with local civil society organizations. A demonstrable track record of supporting organizational change and impact is essential. Experience overseeing complex, multi-partner portfolios is also required, along with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken) is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration with local partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term contract for 24 months, requiring a commitment of 35 hours per week. The salary for this role is £47,229 per annum, supplemented by monthly allowances of £1,627.1
