Job Overview: The UN VolunteerHealth SectorCoordination Support position is crucial in the context of Lebanon's ongoing healthcare crises, which have been exacerbated by various factors including the influx of Syrian refugees, the COVID-19 pandemic, and significant socio-economic challenges. The role involves supporting the Health Sector/Cluster Coordinator in daily activities, facilitating communication and coordination among various stakeholders, and ensuring that health sector responses are effectively documented and communicated. The volunteer will engage with local authorities, UN partners, NGOs, and other non-health actors to foster strategic partnerships and enhance collaboration. This position requires a proactive approach to monitoring the humanitarian situation, assessing service delivery, and identifying critical needs and gaps in the healthcare system.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will assist in coordinating and supporting the Health Cluster/Sector Coordinator in various activities, including:
Preparing partner coordination notes and documenting bilateral meetings, key action points, and follow-up items.
Serving as the pen holder for Health Sector emergency reports, dashboards, and briefing notes.
Consolidating feedback and situation updates from partners and subnational coordination teams for national-level updates.
Attending key sectoral and intersectoral meetings as delegated and producing action points for follow-up.
Updating and maintaining the governorate-level stakeholder directory.
Providing administrative and logistical support for field missions, trainings, workshops, and meetings, including developing concept notes, agendas, invitations, and attendance sheets.
Conducting regular field missions to monitor the humanitarian situation and assess service delivery.
Supporting the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and national health sector coordination team in conducting needs assessments and gap analyses at the subnational level.
Undertaking any other related tasks assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in report writing and documentation is essential, along with the capability to engage with diverse stakeholders. The role requires adaptability, creativity, and professionalism in managing tasks and responsibilities. A strong commitment to the mission of WHO and the ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner are also critical.
Educational Background: A degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications or training in health coordination, emergency response, or humanitarian assistance will be considered favorably. Knowledge of health systems and policies, particularly in the context of Lebanon, is advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in health coordination, project management, or humanitarian assistance. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or in emergency settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Lebanese healthcare system and the current humanitarian context will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable. Proficiency in French or other languages may be considered an asset, depending on the specific needs of the role.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Beirut, Lebanon. The volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position includes a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 1,606.58 and a Hazard and Danger Differential of USD 481.97 applicable from March to June 202
