Job Overview: The Humanitarian Nutrition Officer plays a crucial role in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition interventions in emergency and humanitarian contexts. This position is aligned with the ECHO-funded ACCESS project, which aims to assist vulnerable communities and schools affected by complex emergencies. The officer will focus on implementing Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E), and nutrition surveillance activities. The role requires collaboration with local government units, health facilities, and partner organizations to ensure quality nutrition services during emergencies. Additionally, the officer will provide technical support to mobile health teams and contribute to capacity building for health workers and community volunteers, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and humanitarian principles.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Humanitarian Nutrition Officer's responsibilities include providing technical oversight for nutrition-related programs, ensuring adherence to national and ECHO guidelines, and supporting the management of acute malnutrition cases. The officer will conduct nutrition assessments, develop training materials, and facilitate capacity-building activities for health workers and community volunteers. They will assist in project planning, implementation, and monitoring, including grant management and budget oversight. The officer will also coordinate with various stakeholders, including ACCESS consortium members and local government units, to ensure integrated programming across sectors such as WASH, Health, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Development Studies, Community Development, or related fields, with a Master’s degree in Nutrition or Public Health being advantageous. A minimum of three years of progressive experience in nutrition programs or public health, preferably with international NGOs in the Philippines, is required. Strong knowledge of Nutrition in Emergencies, including CMAM, and experience in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) programs are essential. Familiarity with the National Nutrition Council, Department of Health, and local government units is also necessary, along with skills in program development, management, and donor relations.
Educational Background: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Development Studies, Community Development, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Nutrition or Public Health is considered an advantage, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in nutrition and public health interventions.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of progressive experience in nutrition programs or public health, ideally within the context of international NGOs.
