Job Overview: The Medical Doctor – Mobile Health Team will play a crucial role in providing essential primary health care services to crisis-affected and hard-to-reach communities through mobile outreach activities. This position is part of the ECHO-funded ACCESS project, which aims to assist the most vulnerable communities and schools affected by complex emergencies in accessing quality and timely humanitarian and disaster preparedness services. The Medical Doctor will deliver life-saving health services, including consultations for common illnesses, maternal, newborn, and child health services, basic emergency care, mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS), nutrition screening and referral, and identification and referral of patients with complications. Working as part of a multidisciplinary mobile team, the Medical Doctor will collaborate with nurses and midwives to ensure integrated delivery of health, nutrition, and psychosocial support services. The role also involves close coordination with the Field coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Medical Coordinator, Humanitarian Portfolio Manager, and Humanitarian Nutrition Officer to ensure adherence to project activities and guidelines. Additionally, the Medical Doctor will support disease surveillance, health education, and referral coordination with local health units and other service providers, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to national clinical guidelines and humanitarian health standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Medical Doctor will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Providing medical consultations and basic treatment for patients during mobile health missions.
Diagnosing and managing common illnesses such as respiratory infections, diarrhea, skin diseases, fever, and suspected dengue.
Offering maternal health services, including antenatal and postnatal consultations and referral of complicated maternal cases.
Delivering child health services, including assessment and management of common childhood illnesses, growth monitoring, and nutrition screening.
Providing basic emergency care and first aid, stabilizing patients before referral when necessary.
Identifying and referring patients with complications and urgent medical conditions to appropriate health facilities.
Offering basic mental health and psychosocial support, including Psychological First Aid (PFA) and supportive counseling.
Supporting disease surveillance and early identification of priority diseases.
Ensuring proper use of medicines and medical supplies during mobile missions. 1
Providing health education and counseling to patients and caregivers on various health topics. 1
Participating in planning and scheduling mobile health missions, coordinating with local health staff and community volunteers. 1
Maintaining proper documentation of consultations, treatments, and referrals. 1
Submitting regular medical and activity reports to the Medical Coordinator and Humanitarian Portfolio Manager. 1

Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications:
A valid medical license as a Medical Doctor.
A minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience, preferably in primary health care, rural health units, hospitals, or humanitarian settings.
Training or experience in maternal and child health.
Training or experience in Trauma and Emergency Medicine.
Experience in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) or Psychological First Aid (PFA) is advantageous.
Experience working in remote or resource-limited settings is a plus.
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
Ability to work effectively in mobile and field conditions.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Educational Background: Candidates should possess a medical degree from a recognized institution, ensuring they have the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to perform medical duties effectively. Continuous professional development and training in relevant areas such as maternal and child health, emergency medicine, and mental health support are highly valued.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 2-3 years of relevant clinical experience, particularly in primary health care settings, rural health units, or humanitarian environments. Experience in mobile health teams or emergency response situations will be considered an asset, as will familiarity with the challenges faced in remote or underserved areas.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with international partners. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Philippines, such as Tagalog or regional dialects, is highly desirable and will facilitate better communication with the communities served.
Additional Notes: This position is a roster-based engagement for a duration of 7 months, with approximately 17 mobile health missions planned. The exact dates for deployment will be finalized based on operational needs and mutual availability. It is important to note that participation in the selection process does not guarantee engagement, as any engagement will depend on project activation, funding availability, and final approval. The role requires adherence to safeguarding and protection standards, ensuring the safety of vulnerable communities served by Relief International.
