Job Overview:
The position of Surgeon at Relief International involves providing high-quality surgical services at Renk Civil Hospital, aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality among both refugee and host populations. The surgeon will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of surgical care, which includes emergency and elective surgeries, as well as post-operative treatment. The role requires adherence to established protocols, capacity building of surgical teams, and coordination with broader hospital services. The surgeon will conduct surgical consultations, perform various surgical procedures, and ensure comprehensive pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-ups for all surgical patients. Additionally, the surgeon will participate in daily ward rounds, provide on-call coverage for emergencies, and collaborate with anesthetists and nursing staff to ensure a team-based approach to patient care. The position also entails maintaining essential surgical supplies and supporting the establishment of safe blood transfusion practices, while contributing to the development of context-appropriate surgical protocols and clinical pathways.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Surgeon include: conducting surgical consultations and performing emergency and elective surgeries such as laparotomies, trauma care, and orthopedic procedures; ensuring thorough pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-ups for all surgical patients; participating in daily ward rounds for surgical inpatients; providing on-call coverage for emergency surgical cases; adhering to infection prevention and control protocols; collaborating with anesthetists, nurses, and other clinicians; utilizing point-of-care diagnostics to guide surgical decision-making; prioritizing surgeries based on clinical urgency and resource availability; maintaining stock of essential surgical supplies; supporting safe blood transfusion practices; providing patient education regarding medical procedures; coordinating triage and management of patients in mass casualty events; supervising surgical and anesthesia staff; providing on-the-job training and mentorship; reviewing and improving standard operating procedures; ensuring proper documentation of surgical procedures and outcomes; contributing to health authority reporting; assessing patients for referral to higher-level facilities; and liaising with referral clinics for continuity of care.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Surgeon position include a Medical Degree with specialization in General Surgery or a master's degree in general surgery, along with a valid medical license to practice surgery. Candidates should have a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in surgical practice, including both emergency and elective surgeries. Experience working in low-resource, conflict-affected, or humanitarian settings is strongly preferred, as is experience in supervising and training medical teams in remote locations. Additionally, applicants must not have any criminal records or convictions related to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Sexual Harassment, or Child Abuse cases.

Educational Background:
