Job Overview: The Communications Professional will play a crucial role in promoting CERN openlab's research and development projects to a diverse audience, including policymakers, students, industry professionals, and the general public. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic communication plan that aligns with CERN IT and central communications, ensuring effective dissemination of information about CERN openlab's activities and collaborative efforts. The role also involves managing the CERN openlab website, creating social media campaigns, and producing high-quality publications and visual materials. Additionally, the Communications Professional will act as a liaison between CERN openlab management, industry partners, researchers, and CERN's central communication teams, ensuring clear and effective communication across all stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement CERN openlab's strategic communication plan, ensuring alignment with CERN IT and central communications.
Lead the creation, production, and dissemination of content across digital platforms, including social media (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, etc.), the CERN openlab website, and promotional materials.
Manage and evolve CERN openlab's website, ensuring high-quality content, strong visual identity, and effective user experience.
Plan, create, and analyze social media campaigns from editorial planning to performance reporting, utilizing multimedia and analytics tools.
Conceptualize and produce high-quality publications and visual materials such as annual reports, brochures, and promotional items using professional design tools like InDesign and Illustrator.
Serve as the communication interface between CERN openlab management, industry partners, researchers, and CERN central communication teams.
Support and manage the communication of the CERN openlab Summer Student Programme, including promotion, lectures, and student-related communications.
Required Qualifications:
Experience managing and creating websites using CMS platforms such as Drupal and WordPress.
Proficiency in creating visual assets and short-form videos using tools like Canva, Premiere Pro, and CapCut.
Demonstrated expertise in digital content creation and multimedia production.
Strong editorial design skills using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders in international environments.
Ability to translate technical or scientific topics into accessible and engaging narratives.
Experience within scientific, research, innovation, or technology environments is considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a professional background in Science Communication or a related field. A Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience is required, or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. Candidates must also be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of professional experience for candidates with a Master's degree, or up to 3 years for those with a PhD. Experience in managing communications in scientific or technical environments is highly desirable, as is familiarity with digital content creation and multimedia production.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, with a commitment to learn French being an asset. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract duration is 24 months, with a possibility of extension up to a maximum of 36 months. The position offers hybrid job flexibility, allowing for a combination of remote and on-site work. The target start date for this position is June 1, 202
