Job Overview: The Multi-Core Competency Coordinator position is a critical role within NRC Mozambique, responsible for overseeing the implementation of multi-core competency project activities in the Northern Area, specifically in Mueda and surrounding districts. This position requires collaboration with a diverse team of specialists and stakeholders to ensure that project activities are executed effectively and in alignment with NRC's strategic objectives. The coordinator will manage a portfolio of projects that focus on cash and market systems, economic inclusion, and durable solutions, ensuring high technical quality and adherence to donor requirements. The role involves not only project management but also capacity building of staff, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with NRC policies and guidelines. The coordinator will play a key role in promoting the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees, contributing to the overall mission of NRC.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Multi-Core Competency Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
Line management of Multi-Core Competency project field staff, ensuring effective team dynamics and performance.
Managing and implementing a delegated portfolio of Multi-Core Competency projects, including activities, budget oversight, and project documentation, in accordance with proposals and donor requirements.
Providing regular progress reports to the Area Program Manager and other relevant stakeholders, while promoting ideas for improvement and recommending necessary changes.
Contributing to the development of area and core competency strategies, and participating in the creation of relevant thematic projects.
Ensuring that core competency staff have access to adequate technical guidance from specialists.
Liaising with local and national authorities, representing NRC in relevant forums and working groups.
Ensuring compliance with NRC policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines.
Promoting the rights of IDPs and returnees in line with NRC's advocacy strategy. Specific responsibilities include leading the Multi-Core Competency team, planning and coordinating project activities, providing technical assistance to staff, identifying challenges in project implementation, developing technical tools, and ensuring collaboration with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Multi-Core Competency Coordinator position must possess a university degree in social sciences, development, rural development, environment, livelihoods, economics, or a related discipline. A minimum of three years of experience in project implementation and knowledge of project cycle management is required. Experience in complex and volatile contexts, particularly in humanitarian settings, is essential. Candidates should have experience working in at least one of the following sectors: Economic Recovery, Protection, Food Security, and Livelihoods. Experience in managing multiple sector projects is a plus. Documented results related to the position's responsibilities and experience in team management are also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, development, rural development, environment, livelihoods, or economics. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of project management and implementation in humanitarian contexts.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in project implementation, with a strong understanding of project cycle management. Candidates should have experience working in complex and volatile environments, preferably within humanitarian contexts. Experience in managing projects across multiple sectors, including Economic Recovery, Protection, Food Security, and Livelihoods, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, along with advanced knowledge of English, both verbal and written. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Northern Cabo Delgado, particularly in the Mueda district, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.
