Job Overview: The role of the logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer is crucial for ensuring the daily, efficient, and quality implementation of logistics processes within the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). This position is responsible for managing procurement, transportation, storage, inventory, and other logistical services to support the effective execution of projects, particularly in emergency situations. The Logistics Officer will work closely with various teams to optimize resource use and ensure compliance with NRC policies, donor requirements, and operational standards. The officer will also provide technical support and guidance to logistics assistants, ensuring that all logistics activities are carried out effectively and in accordance with established procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: ensuring compliance with NRC policies, manuals, and donor requirements; supporting the implementation of the logistics portfolio according to the established Action Plan; providing technical support to logistics assistants; acting as a focal point for procurement requests; coordinating the implementation of Framework Agreements with local suppliers; preparing and consolidating required logistics reports; backing up logistics assistants as needed; assisting in internal and external audits; ensuring proper organization and filing of logistics support documents; actively participating in planning and timely delivery of logistics activities; monitoring logistics assistants' work; and promoting continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics function. Specific responsibilities include monitoring logistics processes, ensuring quality control, assisting in the issuance of KPI reports, managing procurement contracts, overseeing asset and inventory management, and providing training and technical assistance to NRC staff and partners.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a professional background in industrial engineering, business administration, international business, or related fields. A minimum of three years of proven experience in a similar role is required, with a strong background in logistics within humanitarian contexts. Candidates should have experience in warehouse management, asset management, supply chain management, and transportation management. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel, and experience with ERP software are essential. Basic knowledge of the English language is also required, along with the ability to work in complex and changing environments.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a degree in industrial engineering, business administration, international business, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics management and the operational requirements of humanitarian aid delivery.
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience in logistics roles, particularly in humanitarian settings. Previous experience in emergency response logistics is highly desirable.
