Job Overview:
The Safety Assistant (Radio Operator) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of DRC personnel and operations in the field. This position involves monitoring and recording all movements of DRC vehicles and staff, as well as keeping track of the security situation in the operational area. The Safety Assistant is responsible for maintaining communication with team members and local alert groups, ensuring that all relevant information is shared promptly. The role requires a high level of alertness and discipline, as the Safety Assistant must be prepared to respond to any changes in the security environment. The position is open exclusively to Ukrainian Nationals and is intended for a temporary replacement period of 12 months, with a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce through on-the-job training.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Safety Assistant's primary duties include monitoring and recording the movements of DRC vehicles and personnel within the assigned operational area. This involves collecting hourly or daily location reports from trip or team leaders and distributing messages and information to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner. The Safety Assistant must monitor verified information networks and provide regular updates on the security situation, informing supervisors of any changes or incidents that may affect personnel safety or operations. Additionally, the Safety Assistant is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of information regarding personnel movements, tracking vehicle locations using GPS systems, verifying the activity of DRC vehicle tracking devices, and updating contact databases for all staff in the area. Other responsibilities include conducting weekly checks of communication equipment, providing safety briefings to staff before trips, and ensuring that staff are equipped with necessary safety gear. The Safety Assistant may also be tasked with completing other duties as assigned by the manager.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and contribute positively to the work environment. Proven skills in working under pressure and prioritizing multiple tasks are essential. Strong organizational and administrative skills are required, along with a willingness to learn and adapt to new work processes. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and standard office tools, are necessary. Candidates must also be able to work shifts, including night shifts, and possess good proficiency in English. While a degree or diploma in a relevant field is preferred, it is not mandatory for this role.

Educational Background:

Experience:

Languages:
Good proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.

Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position includes a 3-month probation period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The position is classified as non-managerial (Band: І) and is based in Kyiv. The start date for this role is as soon as possible. Salary and conditions will align with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
