The role involves assisting WFP staff in preparing for significant events such as the General Assembly and other intergovernmental meetings, as well as supporting the planning and execution of WFP-hosted events. The intern will also be involved in monitoring relevant issues, contributing to data analysis, and producing communication products. Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: assisting WFP staff members with activities related to significant intergovernmental events, such as preparatory meetings and drafting key points and outcomes; supporting country-specific or regional taskforces and UN Development Group initiatives by taking notes and reporting on discussions; attending meetings on thematic issues like Sustainable Development Goals, Climate Change, and Gender, and flagging important issues to WFP; aiding in the planning and execution of events hosted by WFP; monitoring relevant issues and contributing to data analysis; and producing quick guides and other communication products as needed. The intern will play a crucial role in ensuring that WFP's objectives are met during these engagements and will gain valuable insights into the organization's operations and the broader humanitarian landscape.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program at a recognized university. They should have attended university courses within the past 12 months. Experience working with the UN system, including its various agencies and programs, is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is essential, along with excellent command of English and strong writing skills. Familiarity with data visualization and design tools, such as Tableau and Publisher, is advantageous. Additionally, candidates should have experience studying or working in a country other than their home country, which will enhance their understanding of international contexts.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a background in international relations, humanitarian studies, political science, or a related field. Enrollment in or recent graduation from a recognized university program is mandatory, ensuring that candidates possess the necessary theoretical knowledge and academic foundation to succeed in this internship.
