Job Overview:
In this role, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and continuously improving a large-scale workflow management system that processes data for the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. This position involves overseeing central production and validation workflows across a global distributed computing infrastructure. You will be tasked with investigating and resolving issues to ensure efficient and reliable data processing. Your contributions will be vital for maintaining the stability and future development of the experiment's high-throughput computing operations. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to enhancing the workflow management system to meet evolving needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring workflow progress, investigating and triaging stuck and failed workflows, and adjusting the workflow management system to accommodate changing requirements. You will set up and configure processing agents and deploy micro-services as needed. Additionally, you will maintain, improve, and further develop the current workflow management system. Effective communication of workflow issues and reporting on workflow status during coordination meetings will also be essential to your role. You will be expected to collaborate with team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must possess knowledge of Linux and shell scripting, as well as proficiency in Python. Familiarity with web technologies, particularly React and FastAPI, is considered a plus. Experience with containers, Kubernetes, git, and continuous integration practices will also be advantageous. Furthermore, having experience with ticketing systems and computing service support is beneficial. You should demonstrate a strong ability to learn quickly and adapt to the devops culture, thrive in a multicultural environment, and possess excellent communication skills.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. It is important to note that applicants without a university degree are not eligible for this position, nor are those who have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract. Additionally, applicants with a PhD are not eligible for this role.

Experience:
The position requires a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation. This experience should be relevant to the field of computing or engineering, aligning with the responsibilities outlined in the job description.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, and candidates should demonstrate a commitment to learning French. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
