Job Overview: The position involves supporting the AMR Accountability Commission and overseeing data collection and report development for the Accountability Index. The incumbent will provide assistance to Member States in developing and implementing national AMR action plans, antibiotic stewardship programs, and educational materials. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and technical staff to enhance disease control programs, particularly in the context of antimicrobial resistance. The incumbent will also be responsible for organizing technical workshops, stakeholder meetings, and awareness campaigns, contributing to the overall mission of improving health security and disease prevention.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1) Provide support to Member States on the development and implementation of national AMR action plans, including policy options and capacity assessments. 2) Serve as the Accountability Index focal point, delivering Secretariat duties for the AMR Accountability Commission and supporting the production of annual reports. 3) Contribute to the development of WHO policy documents and scientific publications related to AMR. 4) Collaborate with partners to develop educational materials and interventions for healthcare professionals. 5) Support integrated activities to improve infection prevention and control practices. 6) Develop and deliver training materials and organize expert workshops. 7) Assist in strengthening national AMR surveillance systems and their integration into regional networks. 8) Support behavior change campaigns and monitor healthcare-associated infections. 9) Represent the Regional Office in technical international forums related to AMR. 10) Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Essential qualifications include a university degree (Bachelor's level) in medicine, public health, infectious disease epidemiology, or related fields. Desirable qualifications include a Master's degree in one of the aforementioned fields and professional training relevant to AMR, such as disease surveillance or pharmaco-epidemiology. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of WHO/UN systems or NGOs in the field of AMR and health system frameworks in low- and middle-income countries. Proven skills in designing and implementing training programs are also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree (Bachelor's level) in relevant fields such as medicine, public health, or infectious disease epidemiology. A Master's degree in these areas is desirable, along with professional training relevant to antimicrobial resistance.
Experience: Candidates should have at least five years of experience at both national and international levels in infectious disease prevention, surveillance, and control. Demonstrated work experience in antimicrobial resistance stewardship or epidemiology is essential, as well as experience in intersectoral collaboration with relevant agencies and partners.
Languages: Expert knowledge of English is essential for this position. Intermediate knowledge of Russian is desirable, which would be beneficial for communication in a diverse work environment.
Additional Notes: This position is a parental leave cover for a duration of six months. The role is full-time and may involve international recruitment. The remuneration for the position starts at USD 71,335 annually, with additional benefits including 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
