Job Overview:
The Administrative Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation of the Department of Nuclear Energy's programs by providing essential administrative, financial, and human resource support services. This position requires the officer to act as an adviser to program managers, planning administrative actions within a complex framework of policies, and facilitating the implementation of departmental activities. The officer will also represent the department in interdepartmental groups, ensuring that the department's needs and views are communicated effectively. The role demands a proactive approach to managing resources and improving business practices, making it essential for the officer to possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Administrative Officer's duties include advising the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director General on managing financial and staffing resources, coordinating program and budget proposals, and overseeing performance reviews. The officer will manage HR requirements, including recruitment and staffing campaigns, and ensure the effective sourcing and placement of talent. Additionally, the officer will facilitate the organization of scientific meetings, manage travel arrangements for consultants and experts, and provide authoritative administrative advice. The role also involves participating in continuous improvement processes within the IAEA and authorizing financial obligations as the delegated certifying officer for the department.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in management, business administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered. A minimum of seven years of relevant working experience in managing human and financial resources is required, with at least five years at the international level, preferably within a UN agency. Candidates should demonstrate thorough knowledge of financial and budgeting concepts, administrative management practices, and strategic human resource management.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in management, business administration, or a related field is essential for this position. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by two additional years of relevant experience. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of administrative, financial, and human resource management within an international context.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant working experience, with at least five years at the international level. Candidates should have substantial experience in managing human and financial resources, demonstrating their ability to navigate the complexities of administrative management in a dynamic environment. Experience within a UN agency is preferred, as it provides familiarity with the specific challenges and requirements of international organizations.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $86,027, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Additional benefits include a variable post adjustment, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses, and six weeks of annual leave.
