Job Overview:
The Cloud Engineer position at the IMF is a critical role within the Information Technology Department, specifically under the Infrastructure and Operations Division. The engineer will work closely with the Chief of the Division and the Service Delivery Lead to manage and optimize the cloud platforms and services, particularly those based on Microsoft Azure. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies and architectures, as well as the ability to implement and support various cloud solutions. The engineer will be recognized as a subject matter expert in Azure cloud services, responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of cloud-based applications and infrastructure. The position demands a proactive approach to managing cloud resources, enhancing service quality, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the highest level of service quality by collaborating with process owners, managers, architects, IT security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and other stakeholders to align with departmental strategies and policies throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Provision applications and resources in the cloud infrastructure as required by the support team.
  • Conduct regular reviews of existing cloud environments and provide recommendations for enhancements.
  • Analyze system options, assess risks, and evaluate cost/benefit impacts on business processes and objectives.
  • Establish standards and best practices for the optimal utilization of cloud solutions.
  • Develop scripts and templates for automated resource provisioning.
  • Gather infrastructure and cloud requirements in collaboration with application architects and owners.
  • Manage and support Entra ID-based federation, user identity, and Single Sign-On (SSO) functionalities.
  • Oversee Azure DevOps integration with cloud platforms. 1
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve vulnerabilities in infrastructure and application deployment. 1
  • Monitor and optimize Azure resource costs effectively. 1
  • Direct the Managed Service Provider (MSP) support team to ensure comprehensive cloud platform support. 1
  • Ensure that the anticipated value from MSP relationships is realized, particularly in service delivery as outlined in service contracts. 1
  • Create, evaluate, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that inform decisions regarding cloud cost optimization. 1
  • Review and monitor MSP service delivery, addressing management problems, process issues, and escalation procedures. 1
  • Collaborate with platform owners and project teams to prioritize work in alignment with business needs and MSP responses to demand.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, along with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, combined with at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, is acceptable. Additionally, candidates should have demonstrated experience in an ITIL-based Service Management role and a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including the design, implementation, and support of Azure cloud environments. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure resource management and cloud security best practices is essential, particularly in securing key vaults, private endpoints, network security groups, and application gateways.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field are also considered, provided they have substantial professional experience in the domain. The emphasis is on obtaining a strong foundational knowledge in cloud technologies and IT service management principles.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience for candidates with an advanced degree, or at least 10 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Candidates should have extensive experience in managing cloud environments, particularly with Microsoft Azure, and should be well-versed in ITIL-based service management practices. Experience with cloud security, resource management, and automation tools is also critical.

Languages:
