Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing UNICEF's effectiveness in assessing talent for leadership roles by conducting thorough reference checks on candidates considered for senior positions. The consultant will work under the guidance of the People and Culture Manager/Chief of the Senior Leadership Support team, focusing on UNICEF's core values and competencies during the reference checking process. The overall objective is to establish a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) to create a pool of qualified consultants who can provide ongoing support for reference checking processes as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant is expected to deliver a comprehensive and confidential summary report detailing feedback from reference checks within five calendar days of assignment. Responsibilities include scheduling and conducting reference checks, preparing detailed reports that maintain the anonymity of referees, and ensuring adherence to professional standards. The consultant will utilize their own equipment and will not disclose any materials to third parties without UNICEF's written permission. The consultant will also be responsible for maintaining confidentiality and integrity throughout the process, ensuring that all components of the work remain the property of UNICEF.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a relevant social sciences field. A first university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. Recognized professional certification in HRM is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should have at least five years of progressive experience in human resources management, particularly in recruitment and performance management, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality. Familiarity with UN entities and UNICEF is a distinct advantage.

Additional Notes: The consultancy will be carried out virtually, with no travel required unless specific events necessitate it. The Long-Term Agreement will last for a maximum of three years, with an initial period of two years and an option for a one-year extension based on performance. The consultant will be compensated at a fixed fee rate, and UNICEF does not guarantee a specific quantity of services during the term of the LTA.
