Job Overview:
The UN Associate Volunteer position is an entry-level role that provides support across various program components and office-wide initiatives within UNFPA Uzbekistan. The volunteer will work closely with the Communications and Advocacy Programme Associate and will gain practical experience in program coordination, knowledge management, partnership support, and communications. This role is crucial for contributing to UNFPA's mandate areas and the ongoing implementation of the Country Programme, which focuses on advancing reproductive health and rights, gender equality, and youth empowerment. The volunteer will assist in coordinating activities related to Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), gender-based violence prevention, youth engagement, and population data initiatives, thereby playing a vital role in the organization's efforts to improve maternal health and promote positive social norms.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Associate Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
  • Assisting program staff in coordinating activities across UNFPA thematic areas, including SRHR, gender-based violence prevention, youth engagement, and population data initiatives.
  • Supporting the preparation of meeting agendas, minutes, briefing notes, and background materials for both internal and external coordination meetings.
  • Contributing to the organization of workshops, trainings, consultations, and advocacy events, including logistical and administrative arrangements.
  • Compiling information, success stories, and results from ongoing projects for internal tracking and donor reporting purposes.
  • Maintaining program files, databases, and documentation in accordance with UNFPA standards.
  • Drafting short summaries of program activities, lessons learned, and visibility materials related to the ongoing EU-funded program on women empowerment.
  • Coordinating with partners, including government counterparts, civil society organizations, youth networks, and other UN agencies.
  • Supporting communications efforts by preparing social media content, providing translation support, and assisting with basic design and visual storytelling tasks.
  • Documenting field visits and program implementation through notes and photos. 1
  • Participating in team meetings and learning opportunities to enhance understanding of UNFPA's mandate and programming approaches.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the UN Associate Volunteer position should possess strong communication skills, adaptability, and a willingness to learn. Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNFPA. Knowledge of Uzbek and/or Russian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders.
