Job Overview: The EBRD Turkey Energy Team is seeking a dedicated and skilled Analyst to join their growing success story in Turkey. This position is based in the EBRD office in Istanbul and reports directly to the Regional Head of Energy. The Analyst will play a vital role in all phases of the project cycle, which includes project origination, structuring, negotiations, execution, and implementation and monitoring. The Analyst will be responsible for various tasks assigned by the operation leader or senior project team members, which may involve conducting comprehensive due diligence, ensuring compliance with EBRD policies, and facilitating effective post-signing implementation and monitoring. The role requires a proactive approach to legal analysis and documentation, working collaboratively within a project team under the guidance of experienced bankers.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Structuring and Execution: - Collaborate as a project team member on transactions, contributing to project structuring and execution through thorough research and analysis of relevant materials, market information, and financial performance data. - Analyze potential risks associated with proposed projects, including financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and working closely with clients and consultants to advance projects. - Assist in designing and processing technical cooperation assistance, ensuring alignment with investment projects and policy dialogue initiatives. - Prepare internal project documentation, including project memoranda, financial models, and presentations, as required. - Communicate effectively with internal units, clients, and stakeholders, preparing correspondence and presentations as needed. - Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks to a high standard, adhering to the Bank's policies and objectives.
Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation, and Reporting: - Undertake tasks related to the implementation and monitoring of assigned projects, ensuring compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures. - Monitor project implementation progress and financial performance, assessing evolving risk factors and covenant compliance. - Prepare comprehensive monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions, ensuring timely communication with senior team members. - Assist with the effective implementation and monitoring of technical cooperation assignments, ensuring compliance with donor reporting requirements and operational objectives. - Perform additional tasks as assigned by the operation leader, progressively taking on more complex responsibilities to develop transaction expertise.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills: - A Bachelor’s degree is required, while a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields is preferred. - Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. - Strong quantitative and numerical skills are essential, with the ability to interpret financial information and develop financial models. - Proficiency in credit analysis, with a solid understanding of local and international accounting principles. - Computer literacy is required, particularly in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet applications for financial analysis and modeling. - Excellent understanding of relevant systems and processes is necessary. - The ability to work effectively as part of a team and meet deadlines under pressure is crucial. - Strong written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory, along with a good command of the Turkish language.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a preference for those holding a Master’s degree or equivalent experience. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are also desirable, indicating a strong foundation in finance and investment principles.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in the financial industry, ideally from an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm that operates to international standards. Experience in project finance and corporate finance is essential, with a preference for candidates who have exposure to the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy. Practical experience in participating in transactions throughout the full project life cycle is highly valued, as is familiarity with the Turkish energy market.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and oral communication skills. A good command of the Turkish language, both oral and written, is also required, enabling effective communication with local stakeholders and clients.
