Job Overview:
The Assistant for Nonprofit Expansion will play a crucial role in supporting the growth and operational efficiency of Simuka Africa Youth Association. This position involves working closely with the Founding Director, the 34 Gallery Curator, and a 34 Gallery Advisor over a three-month period. The selected candidate will be responsible for various tasks that ensure the smooth functioning of the organization as it approaches its 20th anniversary. The role emphasizes quality assurance, public relations, and administrative support, which are vital for maintaining high standards in the organization’s projects and initiatives. The Assistant will also contribute to the creative production team, focusing on enhancing the outreach and effectiveness of The Norton Library and The 34 Gallery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant include but are not limited to:
  • Managing social media campaigns, including creating graphics using tools like Canva and Adobe.
  • Proficiency in communication platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp is essential for coordinating with team members and stakeholders.
  • Revising and updating organizational documentation related to various projects and artist communications to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Organizing and archiving social media graphics and articles for the years 2024-2025 to maintain a structured repository of materials.
  • Conducting thorough checks on resources and materials used in operations to uphold quality standards.
  • Creating and preparing certificates for artists and youth participants to recognize their contributions and achievements.
  • Providing technical support during virtual events, ensuring that all technological aspects run smoothly.
  • Participating in the testing and written review of AI models and tools, contributing to the evaluation of their effectiveness.
  • Offering constructive feedback on AI-generated content and model performance to enhance the quality of outputs. 1
  • Assisting with various administrative tasks as required to support the overall functioning of the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess mandatory experience in managing social media campaigns, with a strong emphasis on graphic design skills using platforms such as Canva and Adobe. Proficiency in communication tools like Zoom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp is also required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, marketing, graphic design, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant coursework or certifications that demonstrate their skills in social media management and graphic design. A degree in a related discipline may be advantageous but is not strictly required if the candidate has substantial practical experience.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in social media management and graphic design. Experience working in nonprofit organizations or in roles that involve public relations and administrative support is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to changing priorities and tasks.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it enhances communication with diverse community members and stakeholders.

This position is a temporary role for a duration of three months, focusing on full-time engagement.
