Job Overview: The Enumerator (Bioinformatics) position is part of the Health Governance Initiative (HEART) Programme, which aims to strengthen Indonesia's health system capacity through various means, including policy advocacy and technical assistance. The role involves supporting the collection and curation of data related to Whole Genome Sequencing, which is crucial for the Biomedical and Genome Science Initiative (BGSI). The Enumerator will work closely with laboratory technicians and project teams to ensure data quality and compliance with bioinformatics standards. This position offers an apprentice opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in health governance and bioinformatics within a national program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the collection, organization, and verification of sequencing-related metadata and analytical outputs. This includes assisting in curating and organizing laboratory and sequencing metadata, recording and verifying sequencing data attributes, and ensuring compatibility with bioinformatics pipelines.
Perform initial quality checks of metadata files prior to analysis and ensure confidentiality and compliance with data handling procedures.
Coordinate with project teams to ensure data quality assurance, collaborating with laboratory and data teams to resolve discrepancies in sample identifiers or metadata linkage.
Maintain updated logs of sequencing runs and associated sample information, completing any additional data-related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Engage in regular communication with team members to facilitate smooth operations and data management processes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a strong understanding of bioinformatics principles and practices, particularly in relation to data collection and management. Familiarity with laboratory procedures and sequencing technologies is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in data entry and formatting, as well as experience with quality assurance processes, are also important qualifications for this role.
Educational Background: A degree in bioinformatics, biology, biotechnology, or a related field is required. Candidates with relevant coursework or certifications in bioinformatics or data management will be preferred. A solid foundation in genetics and molecular biology will also be beneficial for this position.
Experience: Candidates should have some experience in laboratory settings, particularly in roles that involve data collection and analysis.
