Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNFPA is crucial for providing reliable and safe transportation services to the Representative, Deputy Representative, high-ranking UN officials, and visitors. The Driver will be expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, and tact while working with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. This position not only involves driving but also requires the Driver to manage vehicle maintenance, assist with administrative tasks, and act as a translator when necessary. The Driver will report to the Operations Manager or Operations Specialist and will play a vital role in ensuring that UNFPA staff and officials can travel safely and efficiently to their destinations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver's primary responsibilities include providing reliable and safe driving services for UNFPA staff, officials, and visitors. This involves transporting personnel, delivering and collecting mail and documentation, and meeting visitors at the airport while managing visa and customs formalities as needed. The Driver must stay informed about traffic, road conditions, and security issues to ensure timely arrivals for meetings. Additionally, the Driver is responsible for managing all aspects of vehicle maintenance, including conducting minor repairs, cleaning, and arranging for major repairs and services to keep the vehicle in good condition. Daily vehicle logs must be maintained, and the Driver will assist in preparing vehicle maintenance plans and history reports. The Driver will also keep track of insurance and tax formalities, guide and coach junior drivers, and ensure compliance with regulations in case of accidents. Other duties may include assisting office staff with filing, photocopying, maintaining stores, mailing newsletters, and paying office bills as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have at least two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol, local roads, and defensive driving skills is essential. The ability to perform minor vehicle repairs is also required. Familiarity with computer usage and office software packages, particularly MS Word and Excel, is considered an advantage. Candidates should have a strong sense of responsibility and integrity, as well as the ability to work well with diverse groups of people.

Educational Background:
The position requires knowledge of the official UN language of the duty station, which is essential for effective communication. Proficiency in English is considered an added advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to interact with a broader range of individuals within the organization and its stakeholders.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience as a driver, particularly within international organizations, embassies, or the UN system.
