Job Overview:
The Associate Platform Engineer position at the World Bank involves executing the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of internal platforms that facilitate secure and scalable software delivery. This role requires collaboration with technical teams and the application of modern cloud technologies, automation, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. The engineer will be responsible for delivering standardized, automated self-service workflows while adhering to platform guardrails and observability. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Platform Engineer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • ERP System Engineering, Management, and Administration: This includes managing SAP Basis, SAP ECC/S4/BW, and ensuring security, user provisioning, role management, and bugfix/hotfix management.
  • ERP Management: The engineer will oversee SAP Interfaces, Process Orchestration, HANA Database, and ensure compliance with audit findings and ICFR.
  • Financial Support: Providing support for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing processes.
  • Bot Integration: Supporting ERP-related bot integrations, addressing issues, fixes, and security concerns.
  • Platform Design and Implementation: Developing, implementing, and maintaining scalable platform solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Continuous Monitoring and Improvement: Participating in the evaluation and integration of new technologies, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues to maintain uptime.
  • Security Management: Collaborating with security teams to implement and maintain platform security measures, conducting vulnerability assessments, and contributing to remediation strategies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Associate Platform Engineer position should possess a Master's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. Core skills required for this role include advanced knowledge in automation and robotics, CI/CD pipelines, corporate governance, configuration management, cloud computing, DevOps, system development life cycle (SDLC), programming/coding, operating systems, site reliability engineering, database management, infrastructure as code (IaC), and middleware installation. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong influencing skills and advanced analytical reasoning capabilities.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position typically includes a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering, along with substantial professional experience. A Bachelor's degree may also be acceptable if accompanied by significant relevant experience, specifically in areas related to platform engineering and management.

Experience:
