The organization is operated by a combination of young people aged 10 to 35 years and adult allies who work on youth- and development-related issues worldwide. YPWC's mission is to educate and inform youth on global issues, inspire them to take action, encourage youth participation in global issues, identify and build sustainable partnerships aimed at youth development, and provide young people with the tools and resources required for effective action. The vision of YPWC is to provide a 'youthful voice' that represents the youth of our world, effectively using young resourceful minds to influence global policy formulation and development in a consistent and harmonized manner. YPWC has been serving young people for the past 15 years, addressing challenges related to education, employment, and health, and aims to engage youth through social media.

Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at YPWC is designed for individuals who are passionate about youth development and social media engagement. The primary function of this role is to create engaging content that promotes YPWC's visibility and profile across various social media platforms. Volunteers will be responsible for developing social media posts and creating content tailored for platforms such as Meta (Facebook, Instagram), LinkedIn, Bluesky, and X. This role is particularly focused on engaging youth and contributing to youth-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including Goal 2 (hunger), Goal 4 (education), Goal 5 (gender equality), and Goal 8 (decent work). Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn from outgoing volunteers and gain insights into effective youth development practices. The commitment for this role is expected to start in mid-April 2026 and will last for twelve weeks, during which volunteers will be expected to make at least eight social media posts on each platform per day.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and create engaging social media posts for various platforms including Meta (Facebook, Instagram), LinkedIn, Bluesky, and X.
  • Ensure that at least eight social media posts are made on each platform per day.
  • Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to align content with YPWC's mission and objectives.
  • Monitor social media engagement and respond to comments and messages as necessary.
  • Stay updated on current trends in social media and youth engagement to enhance content effectiveness.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings to share insights and learn from outgoing volunteers.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy for increasing YPWC's visibility and engagement with youth.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in social media management and content creation.
  • Strong understanding of various social media platforms and their audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with youth development issues and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, marketing, social media, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with relevant experience and a passion for youth development will also be considered.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in social media content creation and management, ideally within a non-profit or youth-focused organization. Experience working with youth or in community engagement is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus, especially those commonly spoken among youth in Ghana and the surrounding regions.
