Job Overview:
The IT Specialist position is integral to the Shared Services Centre (SSC) of the FAO, focusing on ensuring the quality, transparency, and consistency of data and processes within the IT domain. The role involves providing first-level user support for various ICT-related services, including Local Area Networks, Wide-area Networks, Wi-Fi, servers, and other office technology. The IT Specialist will be responsible for installing and configuring desktop PCs and laptops, assisting with backup procedures, and maintaining office equipment such as printers and photocopiers. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and user guidance, as well as the ability to log and track user requests effectively. The IT Specialist will also assist in identifying hardware and software needs, draft purchase requests, and coordinate the delivery and installation of IT equipment. This role is essential for maintaining the smooth functioning of IT services within the organization, ensuring that all users have the necessary support and resources to perform their tasks efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The IT Specialist will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Providing first-level user setup and support for ICT-related services, ensuring users have access to necessary technology and resources.
  • Installing and configuring standard desktop PCs and laptops according to established policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
  • Assisting in the configuration of backup procedures for local computers to safeguard data integrity.
  • Operating and troubleshooting office equipment, including printers and photocopiers, to ensure minimal downtime and efficient operation.
  • Guiding users in accessing IT services and resources, providing clear instructions and support as needed.
  • Logging and tracking user requests, producing reports on request to monitor service delivery and user satisfaction.
  • Assisting in identifying hardware and software needs for the SSC, ensuring that the organization is equipped with the necessary tools for effective operation.
  • Drafting requests for the purchase of hardware and software in accordance with corporate guidelines, ensuring that procurement processes are followed.
  • Arranging for the delivery and installation of hardware and software to users, liaising with central units as necessary to facilitate smooth operations. 1
  • Performing other duties as required to support the IT function within the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet several minimum requirements to be considered for the IT Specialist position. These include being a national of Hungary, possessing a completed high school diploma, and having a university degree or technical diploma in information technology or a related field recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU) or UNESCO, which is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have 1-3 years of relevant work experience in information technology and helpdesk support. A working knowledge of English at level C is required, along with proficiency in Hungarian, the official language of the country. Candidates should also demonstrate core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the IT Specialist position includes a completed high school diploma as a minimum qualification. A university degree or technical diploma in information technology or a related field from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU) or UNESCO is considered advantageous.
