Job Overview:
The Digital Adoption & intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern position is designed to support the HR Systems and People Analytics Unit within UNHCR. The intern will report directly to the Assistant Business Analyst and will play a crucial role in enhancing user engagement with the Workday HR system. This position focuses on developing digital content that facilitates user adoption and improves communication strategies across the organization. The intern will be involved in creating training materials, monitoring user feedback, and assisting in the development of new learning paths. The role is integral to the ongoing HR transformation efforts at UNHCR, which aim to modernize HR service delivery through innovative technology and real-time data. The intern will also engage with various communities of practice to promote effective use of Workday and support change management activities related to HR systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Assisting in the development of short digital training content, such as videos, related to Workday.
  • Reviewing available resources across multiple platforms, including Workday Learning and SharePoint, and providing insights based on global user feedback.
  • Liaising with Workday focal points to identify potential gaps and gather best practices from regional offices and headquarters.
  • Supporting the development of new learning paths in Workday Learning.
  • Assisting in the creation of communication materials and updating online community platforms.
  • Monitoring analytics for HR SPA intranet pages and collecting user feedback.
  • Acting as a focal point for publishing HR SPA content.
  • Supporting the development of UNHCR/HR SPA-branded communication materials.
  • Staying updated on knowledge-based article needs in Workday Case Management. 1
  • Supporting the team’s change management activities related to HR systems and initiatives. 1
  • Assisting in Business as Usual (BAU) activities related to the Workday People Experience (PEX) module and supporting the implementation of new projects. 1
  • Performing any other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate or undergraduate program from an accredited university or higher education facility.
  • Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to the work of UNHCR.
  • Not have exhausted the maximum cumulative internship period with UNHCR, which is 8 months for full-time and 12 months for part-time internships.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a strong educational background in Digital Communications or a related field. This includes knowledge and experience in social media, web content management, and digital technology. A degree or coursework in communications, media studies, or a similar discipline is highly desirable.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have some experience in digital communications, particularly in video content creation and web content management systems like SharePoint. Familiarity with current online technologies and a strong understanding of digital communication strategies are essential. The intern should be a quick learner, self-motivated, and eager to develop their skills in a professional environment.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of French, Arabic, and/or Spanish would be considered an asset, enhancing the intern's ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time internship role, with working hours from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance from UNHCR to help cover food, transportation, and living expenses. Internships typically last between two to six months, with the possibility of extension up to eight months for full-time internships and twelve months for part-time internships. Candidates are responsible for acquiring and renewing visas, residence permits, and obtaining health insurance coverage. UNHCR does not charge any fees during the recruitment process and encourages applications from all qualified candidates, including those with a refugee or stateless background.
