Job Overview: The Field Coordinator serves as the delegated director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director for a specific region within South Sudan where Solidarités International operates. This role involves proposing a regional strategy that aligns with the geopolitical and humanitarian context and ensuring its implementation once validated. The Field Coordinator is responsible for overseeing that projects are executed in accordance with the Solidarités International charter, adhering to all internal and contractual procedures. This position requires mobilizing the necessary material and financial resources to ensure smooth program operations and supervising resource management. Additionally, the Field Coordinator coordinates the teams in place and is responsible for their security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security in the assigned zone, acting as the direct contact and representative of the Country Director. The role presents challenges such as the need for strong coordination skills to engage at the consortium level, working in sometimes very remote areas, and navigating political restrictions on assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Coordinator's primary duties include:
Developing and proposing a regional strategy based on the humanitarian context and geopolitical situation.
Ensuring the implementation of projects in compliance with the organization's charter and contractual obligations.
Mobilizing and managing material and financial resources necessary for program execution.
Coordinating and supervising teams, ensuring their safety and security in the field.
Acting as the liaison between the field teams and the Country Director, providing updates and reports on operations.
Engaging with local authorities, partners, and stakeholders to facilitate program implementation.
Conducting regular assessments of the operational environment and adapting strategies accordingly.
Supporting the scaling up of the team and coaching managers during the initial months of the assignment.
Revising operational modalities in collaboration with the consortium. 1
Ensuring compliance with security protocols and managing risks associated with field operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management, or a related discipline. Additionally, applicants should have a strong background in the humanitarian sector, with 3 to 4 years of experience, and at least 0 to 2 years in a similar position. The role requires strong technical skills in team management, mentoring, and coordination with various partners, including INGOs, NNGOs, authorities, and donors. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in complex and rapidly evolving humanitarian environments, manage heavy workloads, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines. A good understanding of security management and humanitarian issues, including IDPs, camp management, protection, and advocacy, is essential. Experience in report writing in English and supporting donor-funded projects is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s Degree in relevant fields such as humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management, or other related disciplines. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the management of aid programs in challenging environments.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 0 to 2 years in a similar role. The compensation package includes a starting salary of EUR 3,080 gross per month, which consists of a base salary of EUR 2,800 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. The organization implements a system of alternating work and time off, allowing for breaks every three months, with an additional rest day granted for each month worked.
