Job Posting Organization: The Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) was established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Turkey. It is one of the six Global Policy Centres of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The mission of IICPSD is to support the private sector and foundations in becoming transformative partners in development. This is achieved through various means including research, advocacy for inclusive business practices, facilitating public-private dialogue, and brokering partnerships. The Center operates globally, leading UNDP’s initiatives on private sector engagement and foundations, and focuses on four thematic areas: Inclusive Business, Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development, Impact Investing, and Resilience and Crisis Response. Additionally, IICPSD hosts four global initiatives aimed at enhancing business engagement with sustainable development goals, including the Business Call to Action and the SDG Philanthropy Platform.
Job Overview: As an Online Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, which is a collaborative effort between the UNDP ICPSD and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme. Your primary responsibilities will involve reviewing and aligning content across the multilingual website of the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP) in Uzbekistan. This website serves as a vital platform for environmental knowledge sharing and community outreach. The current challenge is that the website's three language versions—Uzbek, Russian, and English—are not fully synchronized, leading to inconsistencies in terminology and incomplete sections. Your work will help to ensure that the content is clear, consistent, and accessible to all users, thereby enhancing the user experience and supporting the dissemination of important environmental and climate adaptation knowledge across Uzbekistan's diverse linguistic communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review website pages in Uzbek, Russian, and/or English based on your language skills.
Compare and align content across the three language versions to ensure consistency.
Proofread and edit text for clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
Identify any missing or incomplete content and flag these gaps to the team for further action.
Collaborate with other volunteers and team members to ensure that the content meets the needs of local communities and project implementers.
Provide feedback on the overall user experience of the website and suggest improvements where necessary.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on best practices for content management and multilingual communication.
Required Qualifications:
Strong proficiency in at least one of the three languages: Uzbek, Russian, or English.
Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
Familiarity with content management systems and website editing tools is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Previous experience in translation or content review is preferred but not mandatory.
Educational Background: A background in linguistics, communications, environmental studies, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with relevant experience and skills will also be considered regardless of formal educational qualifications.
Experience: While prior experience in a similar role is advantageous, it is not strictly required. The position is open to individuals who are willing to learn and contribute positively to the project. Experience in volunteer work or community engagement is a plus.
Languages: Mandatory languages include Uzbek, Russian, and English. Proficiency in any of these languages is essential for the role, while knowledge of additional languages would be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position, and as such, it may not offer financial compensation. However, it provides valuable experience in international development and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that support environmental sustainability. The role is flexible and can be performed remotely, allowing volunteers to work from their own locations.
