Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer for Policy Review involves supporting the Rescue Mission for Street Life in enhancing its organisational policy documents, particularly those related to safeguarding and governance. The volunteer will play a crucial role in reviewing existing policies to improve their clarity and structure, ensuring that they are accessible and user-friendly for staff and volunteers. This role is vital in strengthening the organisation's documentation practices and ensuring that all policies reflect strong child protection standards, which are essential given the sensitive nature of the work with vulnerable children and caregivers. Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include:

• Reviewing existing organisational policy documents related to safeguarding and governance.
• Improving the clarity and structure of these documents to enhance understanding and usability.
• Organising the policy documents in a manner that makes them easily accessible for staff and volunteers.
• Collaborating with staff to gather feedback on the current policies and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensuring that all documentation aligns with the organisation's child protection standards and safeguarding policies.
• Assisting in the development of new policies as needed, based on the review findings.
• Providing recommendations for best practices in policy documentation and governance.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:

• Strong understanding of child protection principles and safeguarding policies.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
• Experience in policy review or development, particularly in the non-profit or child protection sector.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with governance frameworks and best practices in non-profit management is an advantage.

Educational Background:
Candidates should ideally have a background in social work, child protection, law, public policy, or a related field. A degree or equivalent qualification in these areas is preferred, but relevant experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some level of experience in policy review, development, or related fields, particularly within child protection or non-profit organisations. Previous volunteer experience in similar roles will be highly regarded, as will any experience working with vulnerable populations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Uganda may be considered an asset but is not required.
