Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive office vehicles to designated locations for the transport of authorized personnel, visitors, and delegates, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and traffic laws.
Perform messenger duties, including the delivery of items and diplomatic pouches, while following UN safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols.
Assist WHO personnel with airport and customs formalities, providing necessary support for immigration processes.
Utilize knowledge of driving regulations and local traffic conditions to minimize travel time and ensure safety.
Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean and operational state, reporting any mechanical issues to the supervisor.
Keep logs of official trips, monitor vehicle maintenance, and ensure compliance with established travel reporting procedures.
Recommend major repairs and oversee servicing of vehicles as needed.
Ensure the security of the vehicle when parked and during non-working hours.
Perform convoy duties and other administrative tasks as assigned. 1
Report any incidents or disruptions to the Administrative Officer and follow established security measures. 1
Be prepared for travel to provinces or reassignment as required by the program.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid 4-wheelers driving license for light motor vehicles and demonstrate a safe driving record. Essential qualifications include knowledge of driving rules and regulations, minor vehicle repair skills, and the ability to navigate difficult terrains. Candidates should also have a good understanding of safety standards and emergency protocols. Desirable qualifications include formal driver training and experience with various vehicle types, including 4-wheelers, vans, and minibuses. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is an advantage.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is middle-level education, specifically completion of at least the 8th standard. Additional desirable qualifications include knowledge of first aid and formal driver training from a recognized institution. Defensive driving training is also considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of work experience as a driver, with a proven safe driving record. Experience in driving in challenging conditions, such as hilly terrain, is essential. Desirable experience includes familiarity with various vehicle makes and models, as well as prior work with UN agencies or similar organizations. Experience in defensive driving is also beneficial.
Languages: Essential language skills include medium proficiency in English and expert knowledge of Nepali. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but the primary requirement is effective communication in the local language and English.
Additional Notes: This position is a national role, open only to citizens of Nepal. The monthly salary is NPR 57,246.00 (net of tax) at a single rate, and the appointment will be through a Special Services Agreement (SSA). The position may involve travel throughout Nepal, and candidates should be prepared for potential reassignment as program needs dictate.
