Rescue Mission for Street Life is a dedicated child protection organization based in Uganda, East Africa. Established with the mission to support children in fragile settings, including slums, streets, and refugee environments, the organization has made significant strides in rescuing, rehabilitating, and transitioning children into safer and healthier living conditions. Over the years, they have successfully supported approximately 1500 children, employing a play-based and caregiver-engaging model to facilitate recovery and reintegration into society. The organization aims to strengthen its sustainability and collaboration by expanding relationships with various organizations, foundations, and networks that align with their mission of child protection and community development.

Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is designed to support the Rescue Mission for Street Life in enhancing its outreach and partnership development efforts. The volunteer will play a crucial role in identifying potential partners and organizations that are aligned with the mission of child protection, community development, and mental health. This role involves preparing outreach communications that introduce the organization's work and organizing contact lists of potential partners. The volunteer will also assist in tracking communication and follow-up efforts, which are essential for building and maintaining relationships with institutions interested in supporting programs for vulnerable children. This position is vital for strengthening the organization's connections and expanding its impact in the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify potential partners and organizations that work in child protection, community development, and mental health sectors.
  • Prepare outreach messages that effectively introduce the organization's mission and programs to potential partners.
  • Organize and maintain contact lists of potential partners and stakeholders.
  • Assist in tracking communication with potential partners, ensuring timely follow-ups and responses.
  • Collaborate with the organization's team to align outreach strategies with overall goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of materials that support partnership engagement and communication efforts.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions to provide insights and updates on outreach activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with potential partners.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Organizational skills to manage contact lists and track communications efficiently.
  • Familiarity with child protection and community development issues is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms for outreach purposes.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, communications, international development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant coursework or experience in child protection, community development, or mental health will be given priority.

Experience:
Previous experience in outreach, partnership development, or volunteer coordination is desirable. Familiarity with non-profit organizations and their operations will be beneficial for this role. Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly children, is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Uganda would be advantageous but not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment is flexible based on the availability of the volunteer. The role can be performed remotely, allowing for a broader range of applicants. The organization is open to recruiting volunteers both nationally and internationally, and while this is an unpaid position, it offers valuable experience in the non-profit sector and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in child protection.
